What else should you consider when renting a home?
1. The tenant is obliged to apply for a housing permit from the municipality of The Hague within one week of receiving the rental agreement signed by both parties. The tenant must provide a copy of the permit to the landlord within 3 months after the effective date of the agreement.
2. If the home has its own gas and/or electricity and/or water meter, you will have to apply for the subscription in your own name. You have a free choice for gas and electricity. For water you must register with DUNEA ( www.dunea.nl )
3. The cable supplier in The Hague is: ZIGGO ( www.ziggo.nl )
4. There are several suppliers who supply telephone/TV/internet via ADSL, including KPN ( www.kpn.com ), TELE2 ( www.tele2.nl ), T mobile etc.
5. You must apply for a parking permit from the MUNICIPALITY OF THE HAGUE PARKING DEPARTMENT at each district office in The Hague
6. Every user of independent living space in The Hague will be assessed for municipal taxes per calendar year. Information about this can be found at www.denhaag.nl and www.hhdelfland.nl
7. The standard notice period is equal to a full calendar month, so if you cancel in the month of February (doesn't matter the 1st, 18th or 27th), the consecutive calendar month, i.e. March, will be your last rental month. You will then be free from rent obligation as of April 1
8. Deposit can NEVER be used as payment for your last month of rental.
